Awarded with the Bruno Mathsson Prize for his work and named Finnish Furniture Designer of the year in 2017, Mika Tolvanen is a designer who graduated from Royal College of Art in 2001 and places a high emphasis in creating simple, understated, and functional furniture. Together with his wife and American designer Julie Tolvanen, Mika runs a product design office called Studio Tolvanen which specializes in designing and creating products for residential and contract use. Highly influenced by Scandenavian design, both Mika and Julie constantly think about design, and push each other to push and evolve their work in unpredicted directions.
