Antonio Citterio was born in Milan, Itlay in 1950 and graduated from Politecnico di Milano University, specializing in architecture. He began working as an industrial design consultant and designer before partnering with architect and designer Terry Dwan to design buildings in Europe and Asia, and later went on to create his own multidisciplinary office, Antonio Citterio and Partners, in 1999 with Patricia Viel. He is known for creating uncompromising designs, and has won the “Compasso d’Oro” award in 1987 and 1995. Citterio’s work with lighting fixtures has also been highly notable among many, and a handful of his work has been included in permanent collections at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Georges-Pompidou in Paris.
