Philippe Starck - 1000 2500

Philippe Starck (b. 1949) is a French designer who studied at the Ecole Nissim de Camondo in Paris, and is known for producing a wide range of work relating to interior, product, architectural, and furniture design. Upon graduating, Starck worked at Adidas while also opening his first industrial design company which produced inflatable products. He later went on to design and refurbish restaurants, hotels, apartments, and nightclubs for clients such as the Paris Nightclubs in La Main Bleue and Les Bain-Douches, Elysee Palace, and Cafe Costes, in which he started gaining international recognition from. Philippe Starck is known for upholding and incorporating his design philosophy of “democratic design” in his works, in that he focuses on designing mass-produced consumer goods over individual pieces. He believes in designing products that optimize economized costs for the public, and is always looking to reduce costs while also improving quality in creating mass market goods.
