Mod Mom founder Kiersten Hathcock is a stay-at-home mom turned self-taught furniture designer and builder. After leaving the corporate world in 2003, to spend more time with her kids, Kiersten rekindled a passion for woodworking. Her father, a self-taught carpenter and woodworker, built most of her family's furniture growing up, and she learned from tinkering around in his garage workshop. Thirty-some years later, Kiersten works from her own workshop where she designs and produces her modern/mid-century inspired kids' furniture. The design for the Gracie Hope Chest was inspired by the popular mid-century record player that sat in Kiersten's grandmother's home for many years.
