Mibo designer Madeleine Rogers launched her first collection of
lampshades in 2001. She draws inspiration from her surroundings on the
British coast -- seaside resorts, bold deckchair stripes, and nostalgic
patterns that would be at home on a 1950s bikini.
Band stands, B & B's, bingo halls and other colorful
aspects of British seaside life keep firing her imagination, creating
designs you won't find anywhere else at a reasonable price. This influence is carried through to the lampshades names:
Madeleine has toured the British coast, choosing resorts and ports and
pairing the names of these locations with the designs that they
inspire.
All Mibo shades can be used both as ceiling pendants or mounted
on bases. Each pattern is designed by Madeleine, who works with a
print-specialist to have her designs transferred onto specially coated
paper which is then mounted onto a semi-opaque PVC material, thus
maintaining the vibrancy of her original designs and ensuring
durability for her customers.
