I have a theory. (Stick with me, folks.) I theorize that H.G. Wells really had a time machine, and that he used it to visit our time. He got here (now?), saw Lights Up! Weegee lamps everywhere, and just kind of assumed they had taken over.
What he didn't understand was how, so when he got back home he tried to come up with some story to explain it. But since he was a science fiction writer, he didn''t come up with the easy answer? They're an extraordinary combination of cute and stylish, they're graceful, and the cord hides in one of the legs (and there's even a pendant available!)--instead he came up with The War of the Worlds. But we can let you in on the truth here: it's perfectly safe for you to take a Weegee lamp home with you. In fact we recommend it.
