When my sister was in middle school, she redecorated her room in my dad's house. She brought in a bright orange easy chair she had picked up from the curb on garbage day and had a friend over so that they could put all different colors of paint on their feet and leave footprints all over the wall. She also put up a wall-size collage of road maps (no two the same scale) she'd bought at a garage sale, in the shape of the United States. She wasn't allowed to decorate any other rooms in the house. My dad doesn't like things quite that wild, and since it was his house, he got to make the decisions for all the public rooms. They had to match his taste, just like the rooms in your place have to match yours. This is a principle that seems to escape many designers of pet products--the products work just fine, but they aren't usually designed to look good for you.
