Lighting Guide
I just submitted a lease for a new loft. The place is amazingly spacious and light filled during the day, but at night it is a completely different story. Boy do I have some learning to do about how to light this place! Naturally, I want to give my new home a cozy feel without burning the bank in energy costs, but that is by no means going to be easy. The biggest issue…the 30 foot ceilings. So, I thought I’d do a little research to figure out how to tackle this challenge and in doing so, I’ll share my new found knowledge.
The plan:
- Cover some general guidelines for lighting a dining space, living space, office, and bedroom.
- Explore the different types of lighting options (i.e. pendants, chandeliers, floor lamps, desk lamps, etc)
- Learn about the various bulb types
- Review some energy saving tips
- Refer to a lighting terms cheat sheet.
