  1. The mascot for the entire Nepal Project. This soft wool Teddy can be a decoration as well as a beloved toy. Menu has launched a new trade initiative, Nepal Projects. Developed in collaboration with aid organization Danida, Nepal Projects provides much-needed fair employment and future opportunities in one of the world's poorest countries by combining traditional fabric working skills with a contemporary Scandinavian design aesthetic. The result makes up part of our new collection of home accessories: Exquisite hand-weaved scarves and blankets, puffy pillows, practical desktop containers, roomy laundry bags, and cool teddy bears for kids and grown-ups alike. Himalayan cashmere, merino wool, leather and cotton of the finest quality are the main ingredients in the collection. Bridging traditions of East and West, the carefully crafted items are finished in muted grey, blue, green and red tones to suit a minimalistic Scandinavian home decoration style.

  2. Wendy Legro and Maarten Collignon are the founders of Studio WM - a design studio based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Guided by all senses, their mission is to create seemingly simple designs that reflect the love that is put into them - and their details - for years to come. Their Wire design is available as a Dining chair and a low Lounge Chair. They both have the same light and airy appearance and the thin structure of the wire frame gives them a delicate feel, while also providing a fine contrast to any cushion you put on the dining chair - or the blankets, pillows and soft items you lay in the lounge version. Studio WM explains, "The strength of metal gave us the freedom to push the boundaries and seek for the thinnest, most light construction to bring light into the design in a literal and figurative sense. The contrast between the thin metal wire and soft pillow evokes the urge to touch and use the product." The WM Chairs are very durable and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

  4. Most of the modern products we see today strive to announce their arrival through bold colors and graphic patterns. Area bedding, however, bucks the trend. Everything about the collection appeals to our organic, serene modern side. Basic colors that are always in style: whites, blues, greys, tans and fabrics that feel like a breath of fresh air against your skin.
Area's mission is simple: original designs, natural fibers, and long-lasting beauty and comfort. Area bedding will make your bedroom more serene and simple. Classic even. 100% natural fibers make these sheets very easy to maintain and care for (even the linen lines) -- so both the appearance and quality will last.

  6. Digital is part of the bitmap collection. A bitmap is a way of storing a digital image by compressing its elements. The prints in the Bitmap collection derive from this process of compression. The name is also a play on words: if one were to zoom out hundreds of times, one would find a photograph of an urban landscape. Bitmap thus acts not only as a map of a digital image, but a map of a real, physical place. Blend of fine silk and superfine Italian merino wool. Knitted using 5 colours in a jacquard technique (4 colours in superfine merino, 1 colour silk). It can take up to 5 hours to knit each blanket.

The original print is inspired by the Op Art movement and is a tribute to English painter Bridget Riley, one of the main exponents of Op Art. The blanket is knitted using 100% extra fine Italian merino wool

  10. Integrate: Time and Space is a further exploration in our Alchemy series: a collection of handwoven blankets, plaids and cushions, all produced in the Spanish region of Terrassa, near Barcelona.
Alchemy is an ancient tradition whose philosophy underpins much of our work at Zuzunaga. While in popular culture it is best know for turning metal into gold or creating an ‘elixir of life’, for our work, alchemy is inherently about transformation. Integrate: Time and Space reflects alchemy not only through its original design process, but also through the transformative effect that results from making products by hand.
Each design starts from a photograph we have taken of the urban environment. We use this analogue image and transform it into a digital one. This enables us to manipulate it and create designs that are then applied to products using different materials, printing and manufacturing techniques. Each product is then handwoven on a wooden loom by skilled craftsmen at Teixidors in the Spanish region of Terrassa, near Barcelona – completing the cycle of transformation, back from digital to analogue once more.
Teixidors is an inspiring company that started life as a social project in 1983. Its goal was to help and support people with learning difficulties by teaching them the art of manual weaving. It now works with people with a wide range of disabilities and to this day, works to integrate people at risk of exclusion by teaching them a creative trade and developing exceptional products.
