Normann Copenhagen Knot Chair

$480.00
WWWW
The Japanese designer Tatsuo Kuroda has created a chair for Normann Copenhagen which unites classic materials with modern aesthetics. The Knot chair has a clean and simple expression that leads the thoughts to classic 1950s furniture. The overall impression is determined by the details, such as the dominant jointing points in natural paper cord, which also provide optimal sitting comfort.

Tatsuo Kuroda is a graduate of Tama Art University in Japan and has worked with product and furniture design since 2006. The structural components of the Knot chair are tied together with paper cord, which provide both support and a stylish visual expression; and, despite his Japanese background, Tatsuo has been inspired by traditional Scandinavian
design.

Tatsuo Kuroda explains: “My thoughts behind Knot was to create a chair which is a reinterpretation of itself - a chair that is both classic and modern at the same time. I am inspired by Danish design classics in which function and aesthetics come together."

The Knot chair has all of the characteristics we expect of a chair, but with a modern Scandinavian look characterized by workmanship working hand in hand with good sitting features. The result is comfort for both body and eye.

Normann Copenhagen Just Chair

$290.00
WWWW
Just Chair is a simple and understated stackable shell chair with lots of personality and character that is as beautiful when seen from below as from above. The frame is discretely tucked into the chair's molded shell, and the shell's tapering thickness gives it a friendly and welcoming expression.

The designer duo Iskos-Berlin has returned to the essence of the chair for Just. They have taken their reference point in the shape of the chair as typically drawn by a child, that is, with legs that seem to protrude directly from the seat. They have visually transferred this effect to the Just Chair, where the frame has been uniquely tucked into the underside of the shell, transforming the chair to a harmonic, natural and unified whole.

Iskos-Berlin say: "Just is not born out of the desire to design a different chair. On the contrary, we wanted to use innovative molding and assembly techniques to achieve an elegant and subtle result, full of hidden details. Good design does not necessarily have to make a lot of fuss - those who want to will see the details."

Normann Copenhagen My Chair

$280.00
WWWW
With My Chair, the designer Nicholai Wiig Hansen has reinterpreted the classic shell chair adding a striking elegance and harmony. The rounded corners and curved waist counterbalance the rigorous design of the chair. My Table shares the same rigorous and elegant characteristics of My Chair with its rounded corners and angles and curves of the frame. The design is timeless and has a harmonious and inviting feel.

On closer inspection of the chair and table you will gradually notice a number of understated details, bearing witness to the fact that all of its features are carefully thought out. For example, no standard parts have been used, but instead customized solutions have been implemented allowing a completely aesthetic experience no matter from what angle you look at the product.

Nicholai Wiig Hansen explains: “My aim was to design a chair with unequalled harmony and to try to come close to the indefinable quality that, in my opinion, lifts a design to another level. My Chair is a mixture of something familiar and something new, something neutral yet characterful, something present but not dominating, something simple as well as complex and something rigorous as well as curved. In other words, My Chair is a shell chair the way I think it should be.”

”The aim of My Table was to make a table using the simplest kind of construction possible, while at the same time making sure it was both versatile and durable. It has been a long and challenging process and although it doesn't look like it when you see the finished result, it is extremely complicated to make a product with such a simple feel. There is no room for a single wrong proportion or angle and one millimeter too much can interfere with the whole overall experience.”
