Design House Stockholm Pleece Poncho

$188.00
Out of stock
Fashion fades, only style remains the same. Created in 1997 by Marianne Abelsson, the Pleece collection has changed very little over the years. Some models have been added. The colours change slightly as the seasons come and go. But it’s still based on the same timeless simplicity and quality that never goes out of style. The fabric is still manufactured and pleated in Borås, Sweden. And it is still one of Design House Stockholm’s best selling products, sold in MoMA Store, New York, for more than 10 years.
The Pleece collection is made by a unique blend of polyester and viscose, that sets it apart from other fleece fabrics. Also, the pleating process gives the fleece extra volume and softness. The fabric retains its pleating after washing. Suitable for both men and women, for indoor and outdoor use alike, the Pleece collection has turned into a modern classic.

Design House Stockholm Form Pendants

Starting at: $132.00

Out of stock
Lamps are like people, they are happiest in families. The Form Pendants from design group Form Us With Love are a bunch of glass lamps that are stronger as a group. The basis consists of three blown glass forms borrowed from the timeless world of the light bulb with industrial shades and globes but refined to a beautiful abstraction in white with a spatial sensation. The idea is that we should find our own combinations of lamps at work, or at home above the dinner table. Functionally amusing and beautiful. Three lamps together or 25 of them in an illuminated sculptural mobile.
“With very modest means and simple forms, Form Pendants can make a big difference to an interior. There is an almost infinite number of possible combinations.”

Design House Stockholm Quake Mugs - Set of Four

Starting at: $100.00

Out of stock
“Quake is based on a mug of thin clay, shaken to randomly form its own unique shape. A combination of craft and random impact, creating a natural shape that cannot be made in any other way. The shape makes the user aware of his or her actions; how to hold the mug, how to drink? These are central themes in my work; the forces of nature and chance, and the interface between man and object. Quake also clarifies the clay as a material, by showing its formability in its non-burnt state. It is like a small, useful sculpture, with a variation in its form that doesn’t tire the hand or the eye.”
We were thrilled when Gustaf showed us his Quake project. A successful combination of art and craft, but also quite a challange to put into massproduction. We are proud to say we succeeded, and that the final products are almost identical to the originals Gustaf made by hand in his studio. The Quake mugs are made of real bone china, with its charachteristic whiteness and transparency that becomes clear when held against the light. The inside of the mugs are covered with thin transparent glaces by hand, a technique that creates sheer shades in the surface.
Artistic craftmanship combined with the finest materials, together forming a high quality utility. This is the formula of how we believe tomorrow’s classics are made.

Design House Stockholm Mini Cord Lamp

$146.00
Out of stock
Wires and unruly lamp cords tend to mess up even the most well-planned decor. Instead of the usual snake’s nest of winding cords, Cord Lamp stands surprisingly tall. The design trio Form Us With Love makes a virtue out the problem with the Cord Lamp. The textile cord transforms itself into a steel tube and holds aloft an oversized globe bulb, complete with dimmer and all. “You can let it irritate you, break your neck tripping over it,” says Petrus Palmér together with co-designers Jonas Pettersson and John Löfgren. “Or you can surrender, hide it behind the skirting board or press it into a groove. But it’s smarter to make friends with the enemy, Cord Lamp turns the cursed flex into a simple eye-catcher. If there’s any message to a lamp, just for the fun of it, what about ‘make peace not war’?”

Design House Stockholm Block Lamp

Starting at: $144.00

A sensation of ice and light, of heat and chill. Harri Koskinen plays with contrasts and the archetypes of modern society in his Block Lamp, which became a design classic as soon as it was launched in 1996. The Block Lamp has been showered with design awards ever since, including: Excellent Swedish Design in 1998, the Design Plus Award at the Ambiente Trade Fair in Frankfurt, as well as Best New Product at the accent show in New York in 1999. The lamp became part of MoMA’s permanent collection in 2000. Last year Harri received the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize, Scandinavia’s most prominent design award. The chairman of the jury notes that Harri is an internationally renowned designer who, despite his young age, is perhaps Finland’s greatest contemporary designer, and whose design is a perfect combination of tradition and renewal.
